"It's Okay, to Not Be Okay."

Hello readers! I know I haven't posted anything in 5+ months. But who's really counting? I'm not, because I have dyscalculia and adhd.  Then add numbers and it's game over for me and my brain.

As you all know inflation is back and energy is at an all time low. I have been working nonstop. Like many of you, working has wiped me out. I have negative spoons. Because they're in the dishwasher. Hah. Hah. A cheesy joke for all of you. But seriously, I attended Metal Threat in April and I still haven't finished editing my photos. Every time I have "free time" I think to myself I really should finish editing those photos or do some writing. But all I can manage is to disassociate, play games on my phone, or binge watch foreign TV. Go watch "The Gifted" and "Equinox". Fantastic shows.

"That is why I am here to tell you, that it's completely okay to not be okay. "

Don't feel guilty. Don't dwell. Otherwise you'll just stress yourself out even more. Should I be giving this advice as a person with adhd? Probably not. But in my experience beating yourself up is not going to solve anything. It's okay to take a break. It's perfectly acceptable to admit you need help. Honestly, If I didn't have my Lexapro or birth control I think I'd probably cry, because existing is hard right now. Whether you are neurodivergent or neurotypical. Being pregnant right now would send me into an overdrive panic. And I don't have anxiety. I don't want to raise a child in a f-up world. I think my child deserves better than that. Below are some coping mechanisms that are actually healthy if you're having issues staying a kind and sane human.

1. Breathing exercises. It may sound lame, but it works. Any time I feel the rage monster start to climb out of my flesh prison I sit down and start counting down from 10. It works. I haven't murdered anybody.

2. Yoga. If you don't have time for a 30-45 minute yoga session, do some stretches. Your aging body will thank you. Especially if you've been moshing since you were 16 like I have. My body aches constantly. Yes, I know it's my fault. But, do you really expect me to stand still to a band like Dismember? No!

3. Go for a walk. I have a dog so I'm constantly taking walks. It's better to be outside in nature. Let those allergies remind you that you're still alive! And that you can no longer breathe.

4. Treat yourself like a little kid or a dog. Get all your work done and you can treat yourself to whatever you like. You'll be more productive and you'll get a break. It's a win-win to me.

5. If you're burnout but want to keep being creative do what I do. I downloaded the Blogger app on my phone. I also have a list app on my phone. This way I can pretend to be organized. I make a list of everything I need to get accomplished for the day. I mark everything I did. Whatever I haven't done will get done the next day. I also like to write any idea I have for a blog in these apps. Or if I have free time I'll write a sentence or paragraph whenever I can.

6. Color in a coloring book. It's like therapy, but it's free! Best of all you can take out all your emotions on a piece of paper.

7. Have a schadenfreude moment. I do this by rewatching reruns of "Caso Cerrado." American Court Case shows are boring. If you want all the tea and bizarre over the top cases learn Spanish and watch "Caso Cerrado".  Telemundo on Demand is great. Below is a clip because it's that crazy. You're welcome

8. Sometimes I'm so tired I can't even watch TV let alone read a book. So I eat an edible and put on my Spotify. Knocks me out cold every time. Best sleep of my life.

Sleepy Spotify Playlist

9. Take a bath or a shower. Cleansing yourself is always a good deal. You never know what nasty funk or energy you could have brought into your house.

10. Watch some comedy. At the very least, you'll be burning calories by laughing.

Most important remember that even robots need a reboot to function. So take a break.
