Something Stinks in the NHL.

Warning: Sexual Assault. 

My last post was about how much I love hockey. Here's the link if you haven't read it yet: I love hockey  This is just my viewpoint as a hockey addict and feminist.

Imagine my surprise learning two weeks later after writing my ode to ice hockey. That five members of the NHL are now being charged on sexual assault charges. As I wrote in my last post, I love hockey. I discovered hockey when I was a child. In my experience, hockey players are the kindest athletes I have met. To discover that rapists play my favorite sport makes me sick to my stomach. Think about all the women and girls who are now being put in danger! Out of all the sports, that exist, I've always thought that hockey players were more egalitarian in their approach. Male hockey players are always cheering on their female counterparts or attending their games.

 

You know what I love as much as hockey and music? Human rights. The feminist in me is livid right now. It makes me angry that all the hockey incels are defending these degenerates all because they want their teams to win the Stanley Cup. 

Winning the Stanley Cup is the number one goal. But, maybe we should add asking for consent! How can I support this behavior as a cis female and a person who's been stalked and raped before?! I don't! I find it absolutely abhorrent.

After doing research myself, because I used to be a journalist. Things are not adding up. Why did it take six years to settle this case?! Why wasn't the NHL notified?! How will this affect the reputation of the NHL? Did the New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, and the Tampa Lighting know about the actions of these idiots when they were a part of Team Canada for the 2018 World Juniors tournament series? If so, why were these player still hired? Why did Hockey Canada cover this incident up? Will Calle Foote have his Stanley Cup champion ring confiscated.  Foote won the 2021 Stanley Cup with the Tampa Lightening.  I have so many questions.  I am not finding a lot of answers. Other than what sport journalists and tabloids have released to the public. Remember to critically think and to always check your sources. This is why I will be using the Associated Press as my source. 

Maybe, I'm being a biased fan. Maybe I am giving these players too much credit. Maybe I am not thinking straight because I love hockey a little too much. In therapy, I learned that people who are abusive or rape do so because they like having control and power. Read any book or watch any documentary on psychopathic behavior or serial killers and one will learn that these people have no empathy. It is all about controlling the narrative of the other person. Many psychopaths enjoy seeing their victims in fear or pain. Usually, these people come from poverty or have no education. That explanation works for normal people.  

Sadly, hockey is a sport for privileged people. Each piece of gear costs roughly $15-400. It depends on the brand and the skill level. According to Jacob Messing in his article, How Much Does It Cost To Play Ice Hockey if we take the equipment range total + cost to play+ miscellaneous cost = $2,077–$8,180. Now imagine if your kid has been playing since they were toddlers. If we pick the mean or average then the cost is $5708.55 x's 17= $95,045.35.  I chose 17 because that is the age that most teens are picked for the NHL draft. Now you can understand why poor kids don't play hockey. Even though, retired NHL players like Jamal Meyers have created their own non-profit organizations or volunteer their time to help poor kids and inner-city kids love hockey. If these families can afford to buy 17 years worth of hockey gear and play time. Then they can obviously afford a lawyer. So why is Hockey Canada protecting these players if their families can easily cover the cost? 

Now for more math. I bet you never thought I would type that. The average NHL player makes 3.5 million dollars a year. If these players were actually smart, why the fuck would they ruin their futures like this? I bet you by the time all five players were on the Canada Juniors team they knew they were already getting scoped out by the NHL. It makes no sense to misbehave. 

This is just my opinion. Because I'm attracted to fit humans. HOCKEY PLAYERS ARE HOT AS Christian Hell. Even the shows, Letterkenny and Shoresy discuss how much hockey players get laid. Puck bunnies also exist. But I hate the term because it's sexist. Basically, they're the hockey version of groupies. Another word I hate. They're women or girls who fuck or date hockey players exclusively. If any hockey player is into goths or metalheads I am right here. I too would like to fill that position. My point is if you're playing for the IIFH or the NHL you aren't lacking in pussy or money. So why destroy a life?! 

If Riley and Jonesy can pull snipes what's stopping actual NHL players? 

 

This is a fictional show and yet all these hockey players are drowning in pussy.

Forget the players for a second. Let's take a look at my source: Hockey Canada Timeline by the Associated Press. Teens do stupid things. I am not excusing these players behaviors. Perhaps, they knew they would be able to get away with rape because they knew their actions would be protected. Another option, the people we should really be looking for answers is Hockey Canada. Teens don't make bad choices unless they're not raised properly or people let them become entitled brats. Clearly, Hockey Canada made bad choices. Now these adults and the victim will be suffering. The timeline created by the Associated Press screams sketch at best. Guilty as sin at worse. The dates go back from 2018 to 2024. That's six years of a rape being swept under the Zamboni. • June 19, 2018 — A woman’s stepfather contacts Hockey Canada, saying she was sexually assaulted by eight players, including members of the world junior team, while intoxicated the previous night following the event. ( I understand why a rape victim would be terrified to come forward.)  
• February 2019 — Hockey Canada says London police informed the federation its criminal investigation was closed. Clearly Canadian cops are just as worthless as their American counterparts. 
• September 2020 —Hockey Canada says it closed its investigation.
• Then in 2022 the victim "sues" for 3.5 Million. As a healed rape victim I can tell you we don't sue. We just want to forget. A. Family is greedy. B. Hockey Canada wanted this information to go away so they decided to give the victim a settlement. Also known as a bribe. 
• June 28 2022- All the sponsors for Hockey Canada "suddenly" announce they will no longer be sponsors. (Coincidence. I think not. You know if Tim Hortons does not want to sponsor you, you're officially screwed.) 
•  July 14, 2022 — Hockey Canada says it is reopening a third-party investigation into the alleged 2018 assault. All members are now forced to learn about sexual harassment. ( Every job does this all over the world. Imagine thinking that employees do not need a course in sexual assault. Being a hockey player is a still a job.) 
• July 18, 2022 — The Canadian Press reports that Hockey Canada has maintained a fund that pays for "uninsured liabilities."
• July 20, 2022— The London (Ontario) Police reopen case. 
• July-October 2022—Several people including the CEO and the President of Hockey Canada resign. ( I wonder why?) 
• Dec. 19, 2022— London Police say a  woman was raped by five players on Canada’s 2018 junior men’s hockey team.
• Jan. 31, 2024 – Charges are formally created. 

I don't know what is more sickening that it took six years for these idiots to be punished or the fact that clearly Hockey Canada has been covering their players' evil deeds since the 1980's. Also, the London Police did a horrible job with this case. Tell me again, how Canadian cops are better than American ones? How will these men learn that their behavior is not acceptable? It's clear to me that Canada is not just or as human rights oriented like many people claim. Rape is clearly still treated like it's not going to ruin or destroy many lives. Sadly, the NHL is not a stranger to rape allegations. Let's not forget the shitshow that has always been my beloved Hawks. I still remember when Kane was accused of rape in his hometown (Buffalo). Or the p.o.s video coach who raped Kyle Beach for 10 years. Kyle Beach was threatened for 10 years. Can you imagine carrying that grief and pain for that long? Probably ruined all his relationships and his love for hockey.  The shame I feel that one of my teams protected a rapist is deep. This is not the hockey I grew up with. The hockey I grew up with was full of kind humans. People that kids and women can look up to. This is why it is my belief that ever since Gary Bettman decided to turn the NHL into the NFL the playing has suffered. Bettman only wants more viewers because that means more $$$. It's why he's turning the Winter Classic into a mini Superbowl. And I hate it. Hockey fans love the game. We don't need entertainment. The game is the entertainment. 

In conclusion, if you want more butts in the seats then make hockey a safe environment. I don't mean virtue signaling. Let players beat the shit out of each other. Stop letting Bettman make all these ridiculous rules that'll ruin the game. 

Let women, men, and children know that they are safe.
